Implementing Data-driven decision-making in Ruka-Kuusamo

The objective of the work was to conceptualize and develop an implementation model for a digital collaboration platform for Ruka-Kuusamo.

Goals

The goal of the project was to conceptualize and develop an implementation model for a digital collaboration platform intended for use by Ruka-Kuusamo Tourism Association and local tourism entrepreneurs. Additionally, the aim was to facilitate the concrete  adoption of the collaboration platform in Ruka-Kuusamo. Alongside the platform implementation, the objective was also to provide training related to data-driven decision-making for the tourism stakeholders in the region.

What was done

The collaboration for data-driven decision-making and increasing expertise in the Ruka-Kuusamo region consisted of the following actions:

  • Definition and selection of the Howspace platform as the collaboration platform
  • Identification of user profiles for the collaboration platform
  • Specification of functionalities and concrete solution development for the collaboration platform, including data storage, processing, sharing, information flow, and data-driven decision-making
  • Facilitating shared learning and coaching
  • Enabling real-time interaction among users
  • Conducting surveys, sharing information, and facilitating discussions
  • Planning, engaging, and monitoring development and collaboration projects
  • Sharing materials through videos, links, and recordings
  • Building the collaboration platform and piloting its implementation
  • Increasing knowledge in data-driven decision-making through training and utilizing tools such as Howspace, BisLenz, and Plandisc

Results

As a result of the work, the Ruka-Kuusamo Tourism Association and the local tourism businesses have a data-driven decision-making collaboration platform in daily use, and it is actively utilized in managing operations. Furthermore, the work has enhanced the stakeholders’ knowledge and capabilities in data-driven decision-making and the use of data-driven decision-making tools.
